10:30am-11:30am, KUUF sanctuary, Yvonne Sanchez – Yvonne Sanchez, Washington State American Civil Liberties Board member, will speak on the work of the ACLU and the current state of civil liberties under the Trump administration.
Yvonne Sanchez was born in Texas to a Mexican-American family but spent much of her childhood in Mexico and Peru. Her high school and college years were spent in California. Later she moved to Seattle, got an MBA at Seattle University, and worked in the public sector with a social justice emphasis. After retirement, she volunteered in San Diego, using her Spanish language skills to interview undocumented youth being detained by ICE as a way to help the pro-bono lawyers arguing on their behalf.
