At a recent Church Council meeting two suggestions were made regarding services. The Worship Committee is adopting both of them. We want to give you a heads up because both will be occurring on Sunday, April 29th.
The first request was for the occasional service that is “outside the box”, just for the sake of the joy of something new. This Sunday our speaker, retired Presbyterian Minister Darrell Udd, a member of the Shoreline UU Fellowship, will bring with him a small troop of thespians who will provide us with a unique worship service which they created for the Easter Sunday at their own church. We anticipate a fascinating and unusual service to delight you. On June 17th Joseph Bednarik will curate a “Your Favorite Poem” service and on September 30th we will have a St. Francis Blessing of the Animals service. If you have other ideas for “outside the box” services, please share them with us by contacting the Worship Committee at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The second request was that our children have an opportunity to participate in the service periodically. We decided, in consultation with the Children’s Education Committee, to invite the children lead us in the Chalice Lighting on the last Sunday of each month (Potluck Sunday). They will teach us the Children’s Affirmation for their Chalice Lighting. We are delighted to include the children in our worship service this way.
