12/2/2018: Social Justice Committee Meeting

The Social Justice Committee will hold its regular, 1st Sunday meeting at about 11:45 on December 2 in the admin room.  The tentative agenda is as follows:

  1. Candle Lighting
  2. Visiting and ministering to those in prison
  3. 2nd Friday Film Series – upcoming “shows”
  4. South Kitsap food bank
  5. JUUstice Washington Legislative priorities from Nov. 18 Conference:
    • Ensure carbon pollution accountability
    • Reform the Legal System, End Bail
    • Provide control and regulation of oil and coal terminals, transportation
    • Reform state tax and funding structure
  1. December 7, Kitsap County Conference for Human Rights at Olympic College
  2. Coming to speak at KUUF on December 30: Sarah Van Gelder- author of The Revolution Where You Live, co-founder of Yes! Magazine, co-chair of Suquamish Neighbors and Kitsap 99%. This dynamic, local organizer has much to offer KUUFers supporting social justice in our own county.
  3. Proposal for a peace float in an armed forces parade
  4. Kitsap Immigrant Assistance Center – volunteering, donations, possible sponsorship of program on local deportation system.
  5. Reminder: December 9 Congregational meeting
