11/22/2017: Welcoming Congregations Survey

Click Here to Begin On Line Survey

The world can be a difficult place, and even more so for those in the LGBTQ+ community.  As a congregation, we want to ensure that we make all people feel welcome and appreciated.  We can show the community our commitment to this goal via the process of renewing our status as a LGBTQ+ Welcoming Congregation.

We ask people to take a few minutes, after the service or at home, “Welcoming Congregation Assessment of Commitments” to help the Welcoming Task Force identity our strengths and our challenges.  Additionally, please join us in Conversations with the Board, as we discuss LGBTQ+-friendly language.  We will be joined by Amanda Collins, a woman who is new to our KUUF community, and who is transgender.

Please know, as a newcomer and a member of the LGBTQ comity, I have found these efforts to be so comforting and inviting, like a beacon of hope, in a divisive era.  Thank you, for your individual ad community efforts!  —Gina Voladora

06/07/2017: Kitsap Doesn’t Discriminate – SAFE Alliance Community Training

7:00-8:30pm, The Q Center For 11 years, Washington’s non-discrimination laws have ensured fair and equal treatment for our transgender family, neighbors and friends. But now, a new initiative—I-1552—has been filed that threatens to repeal critical protections for transgender Washingtonians. Initiative 1552 would put our state’s long-standing non-discrimination laws on the 2017 ballot—and risks making discrimination the law of the land in Washington.

Want to take action in Kitsap to protect our non-discrimination laws? Join us for a community advocacy training to learn what you can do in Kitsap County!

At this training we will:

  • Discuss I-1552 and learn about Washington Won’t Discriminate’s statewide efforts
  • Share some basic information about trans identities and current state law
  • Hear from our local SAFE Alliance–the education and outreach group working in Kitsap to protect our non-discrimination laws
  • Learn advocacy strategies that ALL people can do in order to be a part of this effort

Light refreshments and materials provided.
