In Memoriam: Ed Woods
The Celebration of Life for Ed Woods, a long-time KUUF member, will be Saturday, July 16, 2:00 pm at KUUF. Ed’s generous, kind presence leaves a memorable legacy at KUUF, where he served as president of the board, on the building and grounds committee, and as a member of the choir.

Ed was born in Carson City, NV and grew up in Seabright, NJ, a small town on the Jersey shore. After graduating from high school, Ed spent a year as a draftsman, then attended the University of Miami, graduating in 1964 with a BS degree in electrical engineering.

Following graduation, his first job was with General Electric in Schenectady NY. He also attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where he received his master’s degree in engineering. In 1985, Ed, his former wife, and their two sons moved to Kitsap County and Ed began work for Boeing. He retired from Boeing in 2001 but continued working part time as a consultant.

Ed lived a very active life: he loved sailing, whether it was racing or cruising in his sailboat, Spectrum. He was a runner and competed in several marathons and half-marathons. After taking several yoga classes, he took classes so that he could also teach yoga! Ed began hiking with the Monday Morning Hikers and hiking became a passion in his later years.

And Ed loved to sing! He was a tenor with the West Sound Chorus, a barbershop chorus, and sang with the KUUF choir. The choir and membership at KUUF were an important part of the joy he shared with Nancy.

Ed died March 20 of metastasized prostate cancer at St. Michael’s Hospital, with Nancy and Ed’s brother and sister-in-law were with him. He is also survived by his sons, Andrew (Tina Scott); Adrian; foster daughter Kristen Grace; step-son, Jamie Jamison; step-daughters, Ellen (Mattias) Larsson; and Courtney (Mark) Capriotti; and also, six beloved grandchildren. Additional family members include: his half-brother, Jon Eilenberger; and two half-sisters, Jahala Woods and Janine Woods.

Please join Ed’s family and friends to celebrate his life Saturday, July 16, 2 PM, at KUUF, 4418 Perry Ave. NE, in Bremerton.
