KUUF Endowment Fund: Seeking Contributions
KUUF has had an Endowment Fund since the year 2000. Its creators hoped that the fund would be used to support Unitarian Universalist goals and values. The founders of the Fund formulated a specific set of Bylaws for the Fund that restricts how it can be used. It is not meant to be used for routine operating expenses. By Bylaw rules, only a certain portion of the Fund’s earnings can potentially be used each year. Withdrawals from the Fund must be authorized by KUUF congregational vote.
There is an Endowment Committee with 2 elected members, a member from the KUUF finance committee, and a member who is a liaison from the KUUF Board.
The Fund has been used to fund projects that are outside of ongoing routine expenses of the Fellowship. Examples of how the Fund has been used in recent years: purchase of dishwasher and refrigerator for KUUF kitchen, KUUF property HVAC costs, purchase of glass chalice in front of KUUF sanctuary, and scholarship for KUUF member to go to UUA General Assembly.
The founders of the Fund worked hard back in 2000 to get the Fund to $100,000.00. Many congregants and others gave generously to “seed” this Fund. We are grateful to those who contributed to building of this Fund, and to all who have contributed to the Fund over the years.
Contributing to KUUF’s Endowment Fund can be done by simply writing a check to the Fund. One can also include the Fund in estate planning or legacy planning. Donation of stock, mutual fund, or other appreciated assets may result in tax advantages for the donor. For more information on these options you may contact: Endowment@kuuf.org
In closing, appreciation is extended to Marilyn Drengson, Wilma Harkins, the late John Matan, and all of their colleagues who worked hard to make this Fund a reality for KUUF.
