Rev. Victoria Poling presents The Transformation of our UU Values & Principles
As a faith without creeds, openness to change is fundamental to our Unitarian and Universalist heritages, never complete and never perfect. As we adapt to the changing world, sometimes we cross over thresholds without recognizing them until we’re already halfway there. For 40 years, UUs have relied on the language of the UU Principles as a guide to living ethical lives of integrity and purpose. We are now revisiting and revising this language for our times. In June 2024, our General Assembly delegates will vote on a new Article 2 Purpose and Covenant, with Shared UU Values that incorporate the former language of the 8 Principles. It’s ok to feel sadness, and to not feel ready–and it’s ok to be excited for this possible change. However you are feeling, come and learn about how we’ve arrived at this threshold crossing, and how we will listen to and hear each other as we engage with our changing UU world at KUUF.
Rev. Victoria Poling (she/her), is our KUUF quarter-time minister. She also serves as the minister to the Vashon Island Unitarian Universalists. Rev. Victoria identifies as a queer, white, and Hispanic Pacific Northwesterner. She loves blue herons, peppermint tea, and lentil soup.
