In this second decade of the 21st century, Americans remain deeply divided on issues ranging from supporting public education to financing health care to the role of government itself.  Even if we do not agree on the details of how our democracy is to be lived, can we agree that we must remain committed to preserving democracy itself?  

The Reverend Carol McKinley is the affiliated community minister with the Olympia Unitarian Universalist Congregation, committed to bringing our Unitarian Universalist values to the public square.
