Towards an Ethic of Care: A Mother's Day Manifesto

After more than a year of holding it all together during a pandemic, moms everywhere have had it. Home schooling, holding down jobs in- and out-of-the-home, losing jobs and facing dire circumstances, and, oh, still having to do the laundry, make supper, and try to meet their childrens' physical and emotional needs, all while too many husbands are slacking off, AWOL, or parading around with guns. It's all a bit much. The pandemic is trying to tell us something. What is it revealing? What's it showing us about ourselves and kind of world we want?

Brian Watson is an artist and bicycling educator who lives in Bremerton. Brian is a long-time KUUF member, who has served on many committees at KUUF. He enjoys bicycling, gardening, reading, playing with his goofy cats, and playing the drums. He sings in the KUUF choir and is looking forward to someday singing together with the choir again. He is married to Elizabeth Roberts, and has an 18-year-old son, Kristopher Roberts-Watson, the loves of his life
