Zelda Foxall presents Travel Can Lead to Understanding
Join us next Sunday as Alva Lee Wise Simmons, grandmother of Zelda Foxall, recalls her first experience eating in an integrated restaurant in 1964, just a few months after President Lyndon B. Johnson passed the 1964 Civil Rights Law. She was born in 1909 and in 1952, became the “first lady” of St. Rest Baptist Church in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Zelda Foxall creates portrayals of African American women throughout history. She previously performed as Fanny Lou Hamer a few years ago at KUUF.
