Message from the Board: Covid Protocol Update
Based on the recommendation of KUUF’s Moving Forward Task Force, the KUUF Board of Directors has approved two changes in KUUF’s Covid protocols that we hope everyone will appreciate and enjoy:
Starting on September 1, those attending KUUF worship services are no longer required to be vaccinated against Covid. However, the Board and the Moving Forward Task Force urge everyone to get all the vaccinations for which they are eligible.
Starting on October 2, unmasked musical performances during our worship services will be allowed, limited to two voices. A “voice” could be someone singing or someone playing a woodwind or brass instrument. Each of those two people will be required to have a negative covid test taken right before the worship service, and this test must be negative to ensure, as much as possible, they are covid-free. KUUF will supply these tests, if necessary.
The Moving Forward Task Force and the Board will be considering if additional changes can be made in coming months. We hope, as does everyone, that someday the choir will return to our sanctuary!
In the meantime, we continue the requirement for everyone attending worship services and indoor meetings at KUUF to wear masks. This mask requirement is in keeping with our covenant with each other, as a faith community, to protect the most vulnerable among us. The only exception is for persons speaking from the pulpit. We encourage socializing after our worship services outside on the breezeway, in the courtyard, or in the parking lot.
The Board and the Moving Forward Task Force encourage everyone who is eligible to get the newly released booster vaccination as soon as they can. This will further protect our members and our faith community. We all should do whatever we can to protect our own health and the health of everyone in our community, including getting vaccinated and boosted!
