THE VIEW FROM THE BRIDGE

As my time with KUUF as your bridge minister draws to a close, I leave knowing that this vibrant and healthy congregation is in good hands.  Last February, when I stepped into this temporary ministry, your amazing leadership – the staff, the board and all the committees and teams – brought me up to speed on what I needed to know to make the transition from Rev. Jessica’s ministry as seamless as possible.  I am very grateful to her for developing, with all of you, such a dynamic shared ministry.  I want to thank everyone for the many ways you have collaborated with each other and with me to make sure this beloved spiritual community is open and welcoming to newcomers as well as long-time members.   And you have done all of this even as the persistent COVID pandemic continues to impact our communities.

Next week you will welcome the Rev. Crystal Zerfoss as your new contract minister!  This is indeed an exciting time for KUUF – one in which you and Rev. Crystal will map the next stage of KUUF’s journey.  Continue to celebrate who you are even as you explore new ways to live our liberal religious faith in this world.  Continue to deepen your own and this community’s spiritual life, work together for justice, and find new ways to bring greater love to the world.

I know so many of you have discovered that belonging to this religious community can be deeply rewarding, whether it is attending worship services in KUUF’s beautiful sanctuary, enjoying wonderful music, participating in a chalice circle or book discussion group, or getting to know this congregation of deeply committed members and friends.  Continue to invite others to visit this fellowship and to learn more about our liberal religious tradition.

I am honored to have served as your bridge minister for the past six months and to have had the opportunity to know and work with many of you during a difficult time.  As you begin this next part in your life as a UU congregation, I am confident you will continue to care for each other, for your community, and for this world we share.

Rev. Carol McKinley

KUUF’s Bridge Minister, Feb.-July 2022
