When KUUF’s beloved minister, the Rev. Jessica Star Rockers, left her position at the end of January, the Fellowship wanted to honor her outstanding ministry here. A group, organized by Terry Mallory, commissioned a stole with images of the Pacific Northwest that resonate with Rev. Jessica’s life here. Originally, the plan was to present her with the stole at a summer gathering at KUUF.
Rev. Jessica, honoring the Unitarian Universalist Ministers Association’s guidelines to which all of us in ministry agree, recognizes that her return, even briefly, to KUUF has the potential to impact the beginning of the new minister’s time at KUUF. These guidelines set forth the necessity of maintaining boundaries between a minister and the former congregation.
Rev. Jessica has requested that the stole be presented by KUUF members Rosemary Dougall and Karen Leader-Scott, who are attending next week’s UUA General Assembly in Portland. Emphasizing her gratitude to KUUF for the Fellowship’s gift and recognition of her ministry, Rev. Jessica honors her commitment to our professional ministry guidelines and her support for KUUF’s new minister. She gracefully accepts the Fellowship’s gift and loving gratitude for her ministry and sends heartfelt best wishes and love to everyone at KUUF.
Many thanks to all those who were part of creating this beautiful stole, and to those who will present it to Rev. Jessica at the UUA General Assembly as they convey to her the message of KUUF’s love and thanks for her ministry.
