Songs in the Spirit of Justice

  • Kitsap Unitarian Universal Fellowship 4418 Perry Avenue Northeast Bremerton, WA, 98310 United States (map)

Join award-winning activist music duo, Emma’s Revolution, for a song-sermon, “Songs in the Spirit of Justice"! Emma’s Revolution says, "As activist musicians, we inherit a legacy of the indivisibility of truth-telling and soul-stirring. We sing stories wrapped in a taste of freedom, the triumph of overcoming, the grief of injustice. Through songs, we create a sense of belonging where the audience, congregation and listener feels the urgency of the story, the need for change, the reward of achieving even incremental victories and the power of community action. And we emerge, together, with a greater experience of what’s possible in the world. Come sing with us!”

"Fervent and heartfelt” ~ The New York Times. Known for fearless, truth-telling lyrics and melodies you can’t resist singing, Emma's Revolution is the dynamic, award-winning activist duo of Pat Humphries & Sandy O. The duo are in their 20th year performing together and are based in Woodland, CA, in the Sacramento Valley. Emma’s Revolution's songs have travelled around the world and have been sung for the Dalai Lama, praised by Pete Seeger and covered by Holly Near. Emma's Revolution is well known to UU audiences. Their songs "Keep on Moving Forward", "Swimming to the Other Side" and "Peace, Salaam, Shalom" are sung by congregations across the continent and included in the "Earth and Spirit Songbook", the UU Tapestry of Faith series, and the UU Spanish Hymnal. www.emmasrevolution.com
