Rev. Carol McKinley presents The Transformative Power of Rest
Perhaps it is the strong Puritan strain that runs through much of United States culture that is at the core of the complex relationship many of us have with rest. After all, society tells us that hard work, never letting up or complaining, produce the greatest rewards. These warm August days invite us to challenge that cultural mindset and to begin thinking of rest not only a physical necessity but as a sacred necessity.
The Reverend Carol McKinley was KUUF's recent bridge minister and serves on the Healthy Congregations Team for the Pacific Western Region of the UUA.
